Bringing Together Fuel Professionals with Similar Goals and Concerns

What is OPA?

The Oregon Petroleum Association (OPA) is the statewide association of gasoline distributors, retailers, commercial fueling and heating fuel marketers. It brings together business people who have similar goals and concerns and gives them the advantages of a unified coalition of petroleum professionals.  Operating their businesses in a world of increased government regulation, more complex technologies and intense competition, petroleum marketers and gasoline dealers need the strength of collaboration that OPA provides.  With over 140 marketer, gasoline dealer and associate members, OPA is the state’s leading resource for industry-related education and support. The influence of its established political organization and lobbying network gives OPA members a powerful advocate for the protection and growth of their businesses and their industry.

Our History

The Oregon Petroleum Association was founded as a loose state confederation in the early 1950’s by a group of private brand marketers.   In 1958 branded marketers joined the organization and it became the Oregon Oil Jobbers Association. In 1985 it evolved into the Oregon Petroleum Marketers Association (OPMA).  In the early 1990’s the Oil Heat Institute (OHI) merged with the OPMA and in 2004, the Oregon Gasoline Dealers Association consolidated with the OPMA, creating the Oregon Petroleum Association.  Today OPA has over 180 marketer, gasoline dealer and associate members. OPA members account for more than 65% of all petroleum products sold in Oregon.
